Mariner 10 Outgoing view of Mercury
(constructed mosaic courtesy of Mark Robinson, Northwestern University)

This "outgoing" photomosaic is composed of pictures taken by Mariner 10 as it flew by after the first encounter in March 1974. The bright-rayed crater, Degas, can be seen in the mid-upper right, while part of the Caloris Basin can just be seen on the mid-upper left.
