Mariner 10 Mission

Mariner 10 was the first spacecraft to use the gravitational pull of another planet (Venus) to "slingshot" itself towards another. Over 10,000 images were collected during its 3 fly-bys, covering about half the planet - leaving half the planet still unexplored.
