Mariner 10 was launched on 3.Nov.73 and is the only spacecraft to have visited Mercury. It flew past Mercury 3 times; on 29.Mar.74 at a distance of 704km, on 21.Sept.74 at a distance of 47,000 kms, and on 16.Mar.75 at a distance of 327 kms.

The mission was terminated on 24.Mar.75 when the supply of attitude-control gas was depleted.
